As for the voting question...my vote goes to the one who is against slaughtering babies... McCain's the only candidate against it. He gets the vote.

...on the voting question.. I picked John McCain because of more than one issue. He supports the war, pro-life, and I thoroughly believe that he would do a better job that Clinton or Obama.

hahaha...wow. So while i'm not completely sure of my vote, for i'm not exactly 100 percent pleased with any candidate (I initially went for Obama, but given recent comments, i'm a little iffy...), i'm pretty sure it wouldn't go to McCain. While I do love that he is pro-life, I don't think we should continue the war and definately not add more soldiers as he has proposed, and I am not for the patriot act which he supports. Also, I like the idea of national healthcare which Clinton and Obama are for. I think you have to pick between the greater evils. Yeah, abortion will result in many deaths, but wouldn't a continued war also result in just as many?

Hey Kate, it's like comparing an ant hill to Mount Everest. The total number of, as of April 21st, 2008, the total number of deaths from combat since the war began on 3/19/03 is a saddening 3,298. It's a sad number.
The total of babies slaughtered in 2004 alone was 1.2 million. So based on 2003 and 2004 over 2.4 million babies have been killed. The number of deaths, since Row vs Wade was passed, as of 2004, was 48,589,993.
You're absolutely right. You have to choose between the greater of two evils. Three thousand lives versus over two million lives. Which is the greater evil? Those babies don't sacrifice their lives like the heroes in war. They don't have an opportunity to be heroes. I think every one deserves that chance.

Well, I personally have met/ know people who have gone and are in Iraq. I know people who sacrificed their lives in this war. I think that if they can still volunteer to go and that they still believe in this fight and where it is going, then that should be proof enough that we are not finished there. It feels like pulling out before we are finished would be making light of their sacrifices.

I know quite a few service men through C.A.P ops, and they all think they'd be more willing to fight for somthing else. Morale is low over there.
Well, In response to the whole "War on Terror" I beleive it is abunch of phooey. Face it, there were no "Weapons of mass destruction" and plus, Were supposably searching for Al qaeda insurgents and Osama Bin Laden, but there is overwhelming proof that the whole Al qaeda operation has moved to the mountains bordering Iraq and Iran. And United States Army, Airforce, Nor Marines are stationed in that area. I believe we could do so much better things then be in Iraq, heck, if we were in Darfar in time, we could have saved more then 2.4 million lives. But, it wouldn't have any profit to us, so nope. Who cares for the well being of innocent people. If were gonna be the police of the world, atleast we should do it right.
And plus, I believe the only reason. And to Mccain I don't know how McCain is going to fair in a real two party debate. He confesses doesn't know nothing about the economy and just this week he said al Qaeda came from the Shi'ites. Get a clue already. Al Qaeda came out of the Sunnis, and the Iraq war and the Middle East is supposed to be your strong suit.

The number killed in combat is only a small fraction of the deaths caused by the war, and the abortion rate would go down when made illegal, but it wouldn't stop. I'll look into it though. Oh and as far as moral, sadly david is right. We've stop-lossed a HUGE portion of our troops because we're running out of soldiers.

I'm sure morale is low. It's a war. But please don't use sources like gallop polls that are being taken over there to discern whether or not morale is low. As with every poll ever taken regarding a war, a predisposition is already in place. The results are skewed one way or another to match that predisposition. Do you pray for these soldiers and leaders everyday? For their salvation, not just safety. Getting from one day to the next means nothing if they're lost for eternity. Pray for their morale. It's absolutely useless to put the fate of our soldiers in the hands of politicians and leaders when the true eternity and joy of these men and women belong in repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
And I absolutely agree that abortion rates (which you can clearly see are out of control) wouldn't go down that much if they were made illegal. Once again, the power doesn't belong to empires and kingdoms. Christians need to rise up and put as much effort into educating people that abortion is sin and immoral in God's eyes as does the world doing their best to convince you that you should do what suits your lifestyle. We, as God's children, need to stop comparing this issue to the war, economics, and healthcare. It's a foolish comparison! This country is involved and supports a complete holocaust of the unborn. Government and power of men will crumble as it has with every world power throughout history. The remnant is where the power is held....in the hands of God's people.
Jesus said that if anyone hurts a child, it would be better for a millstone to be wrapped around his neck and his body thrown into the sea. Let your heart and prayers dwell on that.

True, but politicians will and they are taking advantage of religoun.
I definately agree that we should pray for our leaders and our troops. I don't think the discussion here is whether or not Christ is in complete control of the situation and is the ultimate power. The question is who of the three choices we now have do we wish to be our political leader.
I don't think your vote should be based on one issue alone. In choosing a president many issues have to go into consideration...economy, war, healthcare..etc. etc. Abortion is a huge issue, but is it really the only one to be considered?
Dave, you're right. Politicians do take advantage of religion and using it for their own gain. They've been doing that since Biblical times. The thing to realize is that they're not in charge. The hearts and minds of Americans adjusts the activity of politicians. They act in response to what they perceive the nation to want. So the way to make change, moral change, is to start with educating people who are ignorant of the truth and sharing with them the only Truth which is Jesus Christ.

Let me ask you a question. You're questioning whether or not this is a bigger issue than the others, but if they were murdering the babies after the mothers had given birth, then would it be a bigger issue?
One of the processes of abortion is Suction-Aspiration...
In this method, the cervical muscle ring must be paralyzed and stretched open. The abortionist then inserts a hollow plastic tube with a knife-like edge into the uterus. The suction tears the baby’s body into pieces. The placenta is cut from the uterine wall and everything is sucked into a bottle.
If this were being done after the baby was born, I believe you would think it a much bigger issue than health care, the war, or the economy. What if the babies weren't being discarded but being thrown into a dumping ground. In population, beginning in 1973, the city would be 4 times the population of New York City. Ya think that might change some viewpoints?
An American holocaust? Is there anything more important? Do you think that the Jews cared about the economy or the health care when they were being slaughtered? These babies don't have a voice of their own so we have to speak for them.

On the abortion subject, There are situations where there better off dead. If a baby is born in a prostatute, and then thrown out in the streets, It's not gonna be good. I know what you're thinking, Adoption right? Well, alot of those kids don't go to loving families. As you know, people get tax rebates for kids, so alot of people get orphans and treat them like crap for no reason. Truth hurts..

David, prostitutes can't have babies. Their careers would be over. You've been watching too much of the Lifetime network. And possibly some weird version of Oliver Twist. Your scenarios don't stand up. People have abortions because it doesn't fit their lifestyle or the timing isn't right for them or it "wasn't planned."

Ok, I'll give you that. But what about if the mother is in danger of dying, then do you think it should be legal?
That's the only time I believe that a baby should be aborted. The term to use here would be "the greater good". But the sad fact is that the pro-abortion folks use this situation as a platform to stand upon, though it doesn't happen all that often.
